Roman Koziel was born in 1988 in Fullerton, California, and currently resides in Warsaw, Poland, where he works as a documentary photographer and freelance photojournalist, represented by ZUMA Press. His work focuses on topics related to ecology, human rights issues, and protest movements in Central Europe.
He is interested in exploring the intersections between reportage, social documentary, and art. Of particular concern for him is examining photography’s potential as a medium of communication that inspires society to confront systemic issues related to inequality, injustice, and socio-ecological crisis. He is a 2022 graduate of the Sputnik Photos Mentorship Programme in Warsaw.
